When AMD chose the next generation of Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, it focused first on the high-end models. But it's more of a gesture, and the real money is in selling mainstream, more affordable graphics chips. AMD is in great shape right now, with the latest rumors, for example, that the upcoming Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card performs better than the GeForce RTX 3060/RTX 3060 Ti.
As things stand, competitor NVIDIA has .a reliable and relatively complete lineup, having so far launched GeForce RTX 3090/RTX 3080/RTX 3070/RTX 3060 TI /RTX 3060, covering the mid to high end of the market. While AMD has only three graphics cards based on the rDNA two architecture, Nvidia's cheapest AMP-based graphics card is at least $250 less expensive than AMD's cheapest rDNA two architecture.
It was previously rumored that AMD was planning to announce Radeon RX 6700 series graphics cards at CES 2021 as a way to beef up its product line, but that was put on hold for possible reasons, with the rumored delay to March. If AND can offer enough Radeon RX 6700 series graphics cards, it could dominate the mid-range graphics market with its performance, industry insiders say.
The Radeon RX 6700 XT will feature up to 40 CU, 2.35-2.5GHz, 12GB GDDR6 video memory (16Gbps) at 192-bit wide, and an Infinity Cache of 96MB. According to Hothardware, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is rumored to have a strong performance resistance against the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, or at least comparable performance, which could give it an edge while completely overpowering the GeForce RTX 3060. It is said that AMD partners will opt for a cooling solution similar to the GeForce RTX 3070, which is better for overcalling the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
Even better, the rate is rumored to be high. Although it is not certain that supply will meet demand, the high yield rate certainly helps the store. In terms of price, it is expected to be consistent with GeForce RTX 3060 TI.
