Earlier today, Apple released Mac OS Big Sur 11.2 RC 2, which fixes several bugs, such as the black screen on the M1 processor device.
At Apple's current pace, MacOS Big Sur 11.2 is expected to be released this week. After all, they've been testing two versions in a row, mostly to fix problems.
The system preferences may not be unlocked when the administrator password is entered. Disabling the "Desktop and Document Folders" option on iCloud Drive may shut down; Editing an Apple Proraw photo in the Photos app may not save.
Some of Apple's M1 Macs are prone to rapid user switching errors, which automatically activate the screen saver and can't be deactivated.
In particular, the mouse pointer moves over the screen when the screen saver appears. Still, nothing else works, and users have to close and reopen the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro lid or tap the Power/Touch ID key or Alt-Command-Q key combination to return to the login page.
Disabling the quick user switch prevents this problem, but it makes the login feature unusable. Disabling screen savers for all users in "System Preferences" doesn't seem to make a difference.
This issue has been addressed in the latest beta version of the system, and it's clear that Apple has heard users' complaints.
