A redesigned iMac model is expected to debut this year and will feature a new Apple chip. But according to one report, Face ID doesn't seem to be available on the new computers yet.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the new Apple Chips iMac models will do away with facial recognition. It has also been previously reported that Face ID could appear in the new MacBook, which is expected to debut in the second quarter of 2021.
While it's unclear why the new iMacs won't get Face ID, reports say the feature will be in the second generation of Apple's new iMac, meaning we'll probably not get the iMac part until 2022.
Fortunately, the Face ID feature is supposed to be the only feature left out of Apple's redesigned iMac chip. The report also says the Pro Display XDR will likely inspire the new iMac with a thinner bezel design.
According to various sources, we can also look forward to Apple's M2 chip in development and a "desktop-grade" 5nm A14T chip in the works.
