Microsoft has put the finishing touches on Flash Player with the Windows 10 "Killer Update"

Microsoft is rolling out the 'Killer Update' for Windows 10 users. Would you dare to upgrade?

Adobe has "strongly advised" all users to uninstall Flash Player immediately to protect their devices and organizations from attacks. In a recent support document for the Update, Microsoft has confirmed that it will be rolling out the Update for Windows 10 users and advises them to do so as soon as possible.

In a quietly updated support document on February 16th, Microsoft said: "As a finishing touch on Flash Player support, KB4577586 is now being distributed as an optional Update from the Windows Update (WU) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) channels."

Although Microsoft says this is an optional update, many users have responded by automatically updating and removing Flash Player. Other users have also observed that the Flash Player-Killer update is not offered as an optional patch and will be downloaded automatically when the user clicks "Check for updates."

This suggests that Microsoft is also testing a "phased approach" where users will see updates automatically downloaded for different configurations over the next few months.

Once you install the Update, either through the "Optional Updates" section of Windows Update or through automatic installation, you will not be able to use Flash Player again unless you reinstall the older version of the operating system and pause the Update.
