On September 15, Apple held its online Apple event in Apple Park. As previously disclosed, the iPhone 12 wasn’t on the menu, but the event brought some update to its Apple Watch and iPad series. For Apple Watch, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Watch SE.
Apple Watch Series 6
The Apple Watch Series 6 is identical in design to the Series 5, but there are some notable health-related features along with a faster chip for better performance.
Apple Watch Series 6 is equipped with a new dual-core processor based on A13 Bionic in iPhone 11. The upgraded S6 System in Package (SiP) runs up to 20 percent faster, allowing apps to also launch 20 percent faster, while maintaining the same all-day 18-hour battery life. Additionally, Apple Watch Series 6 features the U1 chip and Ultra Wideband antennas.
An enhanced Always-On Retina display on Apple Watch Series 6 is up to 2.5 times brighter than Apple Watch Series 5 outdoors when the user’s wrist is down, making it much easier to see a watch face in bright sunlight. When their wrist is down, the user can also now access Notification Center and Control Center, tap on complications, and swipe to change faces without having to wake their watch screen.
The always-on altimeter provides real-time elevation all day long by using a new, more power-efficient barometric altimeter. This feature is said to allow for the detection of small elevation changes above ground level, up and down to the measurement of 1 foot.
Apple Watch Series 6 expands the health capabilities of previous Apple Watch models with a new feature that conveniently measures the oxygen saturation of the user’s blood, so they can better understand their overall fitness and wellness. By the way, the normal blood oxygen saturation value of human body is more than 95%. When the detected number is lower than 95%, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible.
This fall, customers have more choices than ever with stunning new cases and bands:
Aluminum case: silver, space gray, gold, blue, red
Stainless steel case: silver, graphite, gold
Titanium case: natural, space black
Apple Watch Series 6 GPS version starts at 3199 yuan, cellular network version Prices start at 3999 yuan. It will accept orders on September 17 and will be available for sale on September 20. As part of Apple’s efforts to reach their environmental goals, Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 3, and Apple Watch Nike do not include a power adapter and only retain a magnetic charging cable.
Apple Watch SE
Following the Apple Watch Series 6 is the Apple Watch SE. The price is lower, but the Apple Watch SE has both satisfactory functions and appearance.
The Apple Watch SE is equipped with the S5 System in Package (SiP) and the W3 wireless chip. What makes Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6 different are that Apple Watch SE is not powered by the U1 chip, and it dos not support blood oxygen monitoring and the Always-On Retina display.
Apple Watch SE features the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter as Apple Watch Series 6, and with the latest motion sensors and microphone, it offers robust health and safety capabilities including fall detection, Emergency SOS, international emergency calling, and the Noise app.
Apple Watch SE is available only in three beautiful case finishes (silver, space gray, gold) made of 100 percent recycled aluminum. The current national bank price of Apple Watch SE GPS version starts at 2199 yuan, and the cellular version starts at 2599 yuan. The Apple Watch SE model will be available when approved.
